I’m a big fan of horror films; my Christmas was spent not sobbing over Miracle on 34th Street or It’s a Wonderful Life but rewatching my boxset of the BBC’s Ghost Stories for Christmas. I will happily consume the most atrociously rated scary movie in search of a cheap thrill, but a well-made homegrown horror that’ll make a lasting impression? Those are a disappointingly rare occurrence.
