Still As Statues

In 2003, when a faux-Irish pub opens in a Florida theme park, the owner (claiming a dubious Irish heritage) decides to unveil a statue of a long dead Dublin poet. To attend the unveiling ceremony and say a few words, the poet’s one-time drinking partner is invited over from Ireland, his visit overseen by the perky theme park operations manager. The erstwhile friend’s arrival in the Sunshine State sets in play a hilarious, inebriated culture clash that explores guilt, sorrow, regret, as well as the commercialization of nationality, the arts, and the act of remembrance.
